Viking High Altitude Balloon Launch

Latta High School and Latta Middle School plan to launch three high altitude weather balloons on THURSDAY, May 31, at 9:00 a.m., weather permitting. This is the last day of school for students. The launch site will be the LHS football field and the event will be open to the public and local media. Our classes will send up the balloons to an altitude of approximately 90,000 feet and the payload boxes attached to the balloon will take video from multiple cameras. If the balloons are recovered, the video will be posted on Youtube.

To learn more, please visit our Viking High Altitude Balloon link. We hope you can be there.

Three web links will be available to live track the progress of each of the balloons. Note that the links will not work properly until just prior to the launch.
